Activities

I consider service to be a central component of a career in academia. The following page presents a selected record of my professional activities, committee memberships, reviewing work, and invited talks. For conference presentations and papers, please refer to my publications page.

I contribute to the leadership of several research communities. In 2026, I organised the inaugural edition of AlpCHI at Monte Verità, Switzerland, and I serve as a senior programme committee member of ACM IUI 2026 and as a mentor and workshop jury member for ACM CHI 2026 in Barcelona. Since 2024, I have served on the Young Researcher Selection Committee of the Heidelberg Laureate Forum, and since 2023 on the jury of the ACM Eugene L. Lawler Award for Humanitarian Contributions within Computer Science and Informatics. From 2021 to 2023, I chaired the SIGCHI Switzerland chapter and re-activated it again after the pandemic.

I review regularly for the main venues in human-computer interaction, including ACM CHI, ACM UIST, ACM Ubicomp, ACM DIS, ACM IUI, ACM ISS, ACM MobileHCI, ACM VRST, IEEE VR, INTERACT, and NordiCHI, in addition to leading journals in the field. I further serve as a reviewer for research proposals submitted to the DFG, BMBF, SNSF, FWO, and many other foundations and funding agencies across Europe, and I am a member of the scientific advisory boards of several larg research projects.

Previous service roles include programme chair of ACM MobileHCI 2023, workshops chair of ACM CHI 2018, subcommittee chair for Technological Innovation at ACM DIS in 2014 and 2016, and general chair of ACM Interactive Tabletops and Surfaces 2010, for which I subsequently served as programme chair in 2015 and 2016 and as chair of the steering committee.
